proceeding to drill holes for the hinges, I decided to build a mock up
of the aileron using scrap aluminum. I had already built an
aileron rib last spring. A suspicion was confirmed that one should bend the aileron skins first before building the aileron ribs to fit. Note: the small holes drilled for safety wire to retain the hinge pins. I used copper wire as a temporary measure. Needless to say, the copper wire will be replaced once I remember where the safety wire was stored! [ Click on photos for larger image ] |
